“Music for Kids” Summer Concert Series at the Austin Public Library

Please take note of this fun (and free!) family summer music series — several of the performances (specifically, those at the Little Walnut Branch and Milwood Branch) are located close to Scofield Farms.  The following information is provided by the City of Austin:

The City of Austin’s Music Division and the Austin Public Library is
launching a series of summertime music performances for Austin’s youth.

The new six-week summer concert series, “Music for Kids”, will showcase 20 free,
musical performances suited for children, teens and families at library
locations throughout the city.

“The Music Division is thrilled to introduce this summer kids’ program in the
city,” said Don Pitts, Music Program Manager. “This is a great way to
highlight local talent and the positive influence of music on our children,
youth and families.”

Music for Kids, June 13-July 21, will feature Austin singer-songwriters
Lucas Miller, Gina Chavez, Neal Kassanoff and Courtney Sanchez, who will
each perform solo acts at various libraries. The series will also include
popular special guest musicians like Marcia Ball and Guy Forsyth.

Visit www.austintexas.gov/MusicForKids to learn more. These performances are
part of SRP’12, the Library’s summer reading program for youth. For a
complete list of SRP’12 events, check out www.austinsummerreading.org.

UFCU Grand Opening Celebration – April 14

Our new neighbor, University Federal Credit Union, will host a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, April 14 from 10 am to 1 pm. The event will feature refreshments, a $50 incentive for new accounts, and a chance to meet University of Texas head football coach Mack Brown from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Please see the note from UFCU below regarding the event and how it may affect our neighborhood:

As you know, we are having our Grand Opening on April 14th with Mack Brown. We anticipate quite a large crowd. We have arranged to have 2 APD officers on-site for crowd control as well as a shuttle service that will be picking up members from the nearby ACC campus. Parking will not be available at our site. We will be encouraging all event goers to park at the ACC campus. I wanted you to be aware that even with our good intentions; there may be some that will park on the street on Scofield and surrounding areas. We do anticipate that this will be kept to a minimum.

Please see the UFCU Web site for further details.

Review of Playground Proposals and Community Input

Note: we will be having a public meeting on Saturday, 03/24 from 3-4 pm at the Original Pancake House to do a final review of playground proposals and take input prior to the board vote on 03/26.  The board mtgs are chock full of agenda items and would never allow us ample time for a robust playground discussion.  Thus we are having the stand alone session on 03/24.

Greetings Scofield!

In collaboration with the The Ridge at Scofield Farms neighborhood wide  garage sale, the Scofield Farms neighborhood wide garage sale will be held Saturday, March 24th starting at 7AM located at your home (driveway, yard). It will NOT be held at a central location.  Be ready for early-birds!!!

Advertising in the Statesman will be paid by the HOA. We will be advertising in the actual newspaper that gets delivered to doorsteps each morning AND online at www.statesman.com. Advertisements on Craigslist, eBay classifieds and garagesalefinder.com  (a map-based website) are also being pursued.
Our goal is to help each customer locate each garage sale easily and quickly.

Jenny  will post signs along Metric &  at the entrances. To get as much customer traffic as possible, the Ridge Social Committee is considering posting signs at Howard Lane & Scofield Ridge Parkway, Metric & Parmer AND at the Mopac frontage road and Scofield Ridge Parkway.

Please email Jenny Walker at jenny@realtyaustin.com  and put “garage sale” in the subject line. Provide Jenny with your name and address by March 17th if you would like to participate in the neighborhood wide garage sale. (please do not use yahoo email as I don’t check it:)

Happy Selling!

Scofield ROA Playground Re-build Input Mtg

Photo of ROA Playscape Walkway
Hello neighbors,
Shelley Karn, ROA president, has asked me and fellow board member Paul Maine to take the lead in getting input from interested individuals on issues and priorities related to the playground re-build process.
So the next step is to have a face to face input session with interested parties. Based on that session and electronic input, the board will hopefully have adequate data to assist us as we project a direction. Accordingly we are asking all individuals interested in providing ideas and input on the playground renovation project to participate in the following meeting:
